JERSEY SURF, INC. FOUNDER & CEO BOB JACOBS is a passionate advocate for the music education community and a leading force behind several groundbreaking initiatives which continue to contribute to the future of music education and lifelong music-making at the grassroots level — inspiring and engaging performers, educators, and enthusiasts around the world.

Through the innovative “Mobile Music Lab” HEALTHY CHOICES project, his focus expands even further — to leverage the remarkable assets and people who have been instrumental in the organization’s success for over three decades in an entirely new way... to ultimately benefit a greater number of people of all ages in our community.

Bob has served Jersey Surf members, staff & volunteers for 35 years, serving more than 4000 students who have benefitted from participation in the organization’s popular, nationally-touring creative and immersive programs.

In 2022, he was awarded a United States Patent as a co-inventor of MarimbaPadTM — full scale folding practice instruments for mallet percussionists. He is a member of the New Jersey Drum Corps Hall of Fame and an associate member of the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame.

For the past 19 years, Bob has also served as the Senior Director of Marketing for Drum Corps International, “Marching Music’s Major League.” As the creator of "Marching Music Day,” celebrated on March 4th each year, Bob has helped establish a global celebration of marching music art forms, uniting and inspiring performers and educators worldwide. His new focus, however, is the full realization of Mobile Music Lab.

Bob is also a co-creator of the wildly popular global SoundSport® and DrumLine BattleTM programs, designed to engage and showcase a wide audience of music-makers around the globe. This vision extended further with the launch of the SoundSport International Music & Food Festival, an exciting fusion of music, culture, and community held each August in Indianapolis, Indiana.
