JESSE MELL began his career as a full time drum line specialist with Philadelphia public schools in 2003. His task was simple, yet monumental at the same time: build drum line programs from scratch with rosters of beginning drummers.
Jesse has been fulfilling this task for 18 years in a unique way: designing learning systems simple enough for kids to understand on their own, fundamentally sound enough to take them to the highest levels of performance, and deeply rooted in their love of popular music. This student- centered, fundamentals-first approach has sparked a revival of school drum line programs across Philadelphia.
Jesse attended Temple University on a full scholarship for Music Education, receiving his Bachelor’s degree, and went on to earn a Masters of Educational Leadership from Cabrini College.
